As well as making a really healthy breakfast, porridge oats and oatmeal are very versatile cooking ingredients, and can be enjoyed in a wide variety of sweet and savoury recipes.

You could also try these simple ideas to include more oats in your diet:

  • try sprinkling oatmeal onto freshly boiled new potatoes
  • oatmeal is great for thickening mince, stews and soups
  • mix some oatmeal with cheese, and use to top cauliflower cheese or macaroni cheese before browning under the grill
  • try oatmeal and porridge oats as part of a delicious topping for fruit crumbles.
